- ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪My dog had a large cut on her side. They closed it with staples. We went back for a check up. The vet squeezed her stapled wound, squeezing out a bloody substance like toothpaste (this seemed rough to me) telling us the wound is infected or irritated, and my dog needs surgery ($$$) so he can go in and remove the infected tissue. And recommended teeth cleaning while we're in there ($$$). I went to another vet for a second opinion. He did not squeeze my dog's wound to make ooze pour out. He said surgery was not needed. And he was baffled why the other very chose staples over stitches, as staples further irritate the wound. Hmm. Today, my dog is fully healed, with no surgery. I'm never going back here. I'm sure they do good work with some dogs, but my experience was not one of those.by kiikatSeptember 02, 2017
