  I work with a lot of teenage patients and I recently had a young man who had a missing tooth in the front. We were in the process of completing this patient's orthodontic treatment and required a dentist that could provide a temporary alternative to an implant that wasn't a retainer (no 16 year old wants to take a retainer in and out of their mouth!). I worked with Dr. Allan Hawryluk Jr who completed a "Maryland Bridge" - which a lot of dentists don't do any more. This type of bridge is very technique sensitive and conservative in that it requires the dentist to take very little tooth structure off. I'm happy to say that the results were absolutely beautiful. The colour match with the rest of the patients teeth is great and even after two years, the bridge has not come loose (which usually happens with these type of conservative restorations). The patient is more than satisfied at the fact that they have a great smile and they don't have to wear a retainer to cover a hole for the missing tooth.
